Ceramic Hand Pipes
Bowls for smoking. Cosmos Art Ceramics offers a gorgeous variety of ceramic pipes, hand pipes, and spoons for your smoking pleasure. From simplistic styles to heady designs, we have a pipe to fit your paw.
Hand pipes are the classic, old school smoking device used by your parents and grandparents. Often referred to as smoking a "bowl" our borosilicate ceramic pipes are perfect for tokers of all kinds. Unless you are looking for a bubbler, ceramic hand pipes typically offer you a dry smoke, meaning there is no water based diffusion of your smoke.
While some may prefer a bong or dab rig instead, hand pipes like spoons and sherlocks offer the convenience of easy travel and portability.
To smoke dry herbs, tobacco, or other legal substance out of your hand pipe, you simply need to pack the material into the bowl chamber, ignite with a flame, and go!
Often times there is a hole on the side known as a "carb" which acts as a way to clear your smoke and alter your airflow. Go ask your grandpa, he'll show you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where can you buy ceramic pipes?
For the best selection on ceramic pipes, shop online - like at Cosmos Art Ceramics - online headshop. You can learn and browse from the comfort of your own couch! To shop in person, look for your nearest headshop. A few other kinds of stores, like adult stores or gas stations, may also carry ceramic pipes.
How do you smoke a bowl?
Smoking a bowl is usually done with a hand pipe, but can refer any form of igniting and inhaling dry herb (bongs, chillums, etc). The bowl itself is the round basin of the pipe.
Once you have ground your dry herb with a grinder, fill the bowl to your liking. Do not necessarily pack it as fully or tightly as possible, as this can restrict airflow.
Most pipes have a small hole on one side called a “carb.” Light the herb with a small lighter and inhale gently, plugging and releasing the carb. This controls the flow of air to the dry herb and controls the burn.
The smoke you inhale is called a “hit.” Many first-timers do not fully inhale properly and waste their hits as a result, so ensure that your breath in is deep and full. Some people recommend you hold the hit for up to 30 seconds, but this is not necessary as long as you have fully inhaled.
You may cough. This is normal and just the way it is. Even the most experienced smokers cough frequently— this is how you know you have gotten a good and proper hit.
